π Academic Presentation β Fundus Albipunctatus | Vision Waves 2026
We are delighted to share that Dr. Gaddam Harshitha presented a case report titled βFundus Albipunctatus β Case Reportβ at the 11th Andhra Pradesh Ophthalmic Society Annual Conference β Vision Waves 2026 .
ποΈ About Fundus Albipunctatus
Fundus Albipunctatus is a rare inherited retinal disorder characterized by numerous small, discrete yellow-white spots distributed across the retina.
It is commonly associated with congenital stationary night blindness (CSNB) , with patients often experiencing difficulty seeing in dim light or darkness , while central vision may remain relatively preserved.
The condition is related to abnormalities in the retinoid visual cycle, which plays an important role in the retina’s ability to adapt to darkness.
Clinical evaluation may include fundus examination, Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), Electroretinography (ERG), and genetic testing to support diagnosis and understand the underlying retinal changes.
π¬ Clinical Significance
The case presentation highlighted the clinical features, diagnostic evaluation, and management considerations associated with this rare retinal condition. It emphasizes the importance of awareness, accurate diagnosis, and appropriate clinical evaluation in patients presenting with night blindness and characteristic retinal findings.
