๐ Academic Presentation โ Vision Waves 2026
We are pleased to share that our Dr. Renuka S presented a case report titled โA Case Report on Congenital Lacrimal Fistula with Congenital Nasolacrimal Duct Obstructionโ at the 11th Andhra Pradesh Ophthalmic Society Annual Conference โ Vision Waves 2026 .
๐๏ธ About the Topic
A Congenital Lacrimal Fistula (CLF) is an uncommon developmental abnormality in which an abnormal opening connects the lacrimal drainage system to the skin, usually near the inner corner of the eye. It may present with persistent watering or discharge from a small opening near the medial canthus , often from infancy.
When associated with Congenital Nasolacrimal Duct Obstruction (CNLDO) , the normal drainage of tears into the nose is also impaired. This combination can result in persistent epiphora, recurrent discharge, and episodes of infection .
The case report presented the clinical features, diagnostic evaluation, management, and outcome of a patient with this uncommon combination, highlighting the importance of early recognition and appropriate management in pediatric patients .
