Dr. Anil Thanneeru – Glaucoma Drainage Device

🌟 Academic Achievement – Vision Waves 2026

We are delighted to share that our DNB student, Dr. Anil Thanneeru , presented a paper titled β€œOur Experience with Glaucoma Drainage Device” at the 11th Andhra Pradesh Ophthalmic Society Annual Conference – Vision Waves 2026 .

πŸ‘οΈ About Glaucoma Drainage Devices

Glaucoma Drainage Devices (GDDs) are specialized implants used in glaucoma surgery to help control intraocular pressure (IOP) . They work by providing an alternative pathway for the drainage of aqueous humour, thereby reducing eye pressure and helping to prevent further damage to the optic nerve.

GDD surgery is particularly useful in refractory and complex glaucomas , including cases where conventional glaucoma surgery has failed or is considered less likely to succeed. The presentation highlighted the clinical experience, surgical outcomes, and role of glaucoma drainage devices in the management of challenging glaucoma cases.

Under the guidance of Dr. Varikuti HimaBindu , the presentation reflects our continued commitment to clinical learning, academic excellence, research, and evidence-based ophthalmic care .
