CORNEA AND REFREACTIVE SURGERIES @ SRIKIRAN EYE HOSPITAL

  1. LASIK is a type of refractive surgery for the reshaping correction of myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism. LASIK surgery involves ablation of the corneal reshaping, which is permanent. Detailed examination of the eye is required .Investigations like corneal topography and pachymetry is required to know the corneal thickness and mapping the surface curvature of the cornea.
  2. PRK – Photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) is a type of refractive surgery. This kind of surgery uses a laser to treat vision problems caused by refractive errors. PRK is used to treat myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness) and astigmatism.
  3. Implantable Contact Lenses are micro-thin lenses placed inside the eye to correct short-sightedness (myopia), far-sightedness (hyperopia) and astigmatism. The procedure can be reversed and can be used to treat a high range of correction needs – beyond what is possible with laser eye surgery. For those with thin or abnormal corneas, Keratoconus and dry eye, this is an excellent alternative to laser eye surgery.
